How to help

Keep The Heid

You can support us by donating, volunteering or telling your friends and family about Keep The Heid.

Volunteer:

We’re always looking for volunteers to help facilitate sessions by welcoming attendees and sharing a personal reflection on something that impacted their mental health that week. There’s also a wee bit of washing up to do.

Commitment is flexible—you can volunteer weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or as a standby.

Volunteers receive an induction, training, and ongoing support through regular feedback forums. Our volunteers find the role rewarding, gaining peer support skills, feeling “useful” and helping to reduce the stigma around mental health.

You can also add to your skills through accessing training such as Mental Health First Aid and ASIST Suicide Prevention.

“It’s lovely to be part of something bigger than me, supporting and being supported.”

“I have a responsibility to speak and share and being able to talk if I have had a bad week really helps me too.”

“I’m so proud to be part of this movement.”

If you think this might be for you, contact Emma Jackson at keeptheheidcafe@gmail.com.

We encourage you to attend a few sessions to see how we work, then chat with Emma to explore next steps. If it’s a fit, we’ll guide you through the induction programme.
